ABOUT HEIRLOOM
Heirloom was started in 2022 by LA based photographer, Julien James, as a way to help Black families actively archive and preserve their legacies by providing portraits at no cost.
James who grew up with an abundance of family photos and albums quickly realized his experience was an anomaly and not the norm for many Black Americans and Black families globally.
Heirloom is currently being shot in Los Angeles with plans to go on a tour of historically Black cities around the United States and ultimately Black cities across the globe.
